Classroom Pictures

August 25, 2014

I moved into a new classroom this year.   Here are some BEFORE pictures of my second grade classroom.

I wanted to throw away as much as I could and not just shove things into my cabinets.  Why is it so difficult for us to throw things away?  Why do I need to keep my kindergarten materials from six years ago when  I now teach second grade?

My theme this year is monsters.  I had my students pretend they had a monster for a friend.  They loved making their monsters and writing about their monster friend.

We made these adorable monsters for math.  We are learning about place value and the different ways to write a number.   I wanted to do a fun activity with my students so we made these place value monsters.

The first day of school I read the students the book called “The Kissing Hand.”  We did an art project and wrote about how we felt on our first day of school.

This summer I made a Classroom Helper chart using Melonheadz clip art.

I would love to put my alphabet above my whiteboard but we aren’t allowed.  We cannot have bulletin boards go all the way to the ceiling.   Our bulletin boards have to be 18 inches from the ceiling.

A few years ago, my chair was worn thin and the staples were showing.  I had a parent volunteer recover my chair for me.

At our school we have to use equity sticks or a random generator on our SMART Board.  We are not suppose to have students raise their hands to answer a question.  You can get the numbers here.

Our school implements the PBIS behavior system.   I love these positive behavior posters from A Burst in First.

Here is a snapshot of my Whole Brain classroom rules
My windows look a little bare.  I need to find a parent volunteer to sew some valances for them.

I am linking up with Blog Hoppin’ for their “Where” linky party.
