Place Value for Second Grade

October 2, 2015

My class has been busy learning about place value.  I love making my place value scarecrows with my students.  I love incorporating little arts and crafts into our math lesson.  This can be used as an informal math assessment.

Fall Math

Here is a great video to teach place value.  After watching this video several times, my students know place value!

After they completed their scarecrows, they played Three in a Row.   Little do they know that they are learning math facts while having fun!

My students also enjoy playing Roll & Cover.   They shake 2 dice and add them together.  They cover the sum of the dice.  The first one to cover all of their numbers is the winner.  Click here for your FREE copy of Roll & Cover and Three in a Row dice games.

Place value is an important concept for students.  It is the foundation for more difficult math problems.  Here is a Place Value FREEBIE for you.
