January Ideas and Freebies

January 1, 2016

Hello everyone!  I am starting my New Year’s Resolution to begin each month with some ideas and freebies for you.  Life gets so busy and hectic that it is difficult to stay on top of things.  Many of these ideas I have blogged about before, but now they are in one handy spot.

Many of my students continue to struggle with writing a detailed sentence.  I like to give them extra practice by writing a super sentence. Writing super sentences help my EL students write a detailed sentence with guided help.  We first brainstorm ideas and then I model several times.  Then the students use their creativity to write their own super sentence.   Click on the picture of the super sentence for your FREE copy.  I have included a colored and a black & white version for you.

Here is a book that gives you 15 guided lessons for writing super sentences.

My students love doing art projects.  I found this great idea from Laugh Eat Learn and knew my students would love drawing Olaf.

I also made these water bottles with Olaf on them.  You can get the FREE labels from Like Mom and Apple Pie.  You can get tons of FREE Frozen Printables on her website.

I can spend hours looking on Pinterest for ideas.  This is a fun snowflake activity.   They are super easy to make and the students love watching them crystallize.  One piece of advice is not to bend them to put the snowflake into the jar.  If you do this, you will not be able to get the snowflake out once it crystallizes.

My students love math but they need constant review with addition and subtraction with regrouping.  One day they will do it perfectly and then 2 days later they forget how to do it.  They especially like to complete their math when I put a riddle on it.

My students start the day with my spiral review morning work.  It gives me time to take attendance, lunch count, and collect their homework. Here are a few sample pages so you can try them out in your classroom.   Click here for your FREE sample pages.
